The concept of CarePoint Home Health began in the early 2000's when I was sitting in a healthcare management course. My instructor’s mission for the day was to get her students to understand that there was a growing number of people in our country who will need to receive care in their homes performed by trained, caring individuals. The goal of that care would be to give an elderly or physically or mentally challenged individual the ability to stay at home versus being institutionalized for the care they needed. She noted that it would reduce the cost of care, but, more importantly, she pointed us to the growing evidence of the improvement in the health, physical, mental, and emotional outcomes of those receiving care in their homes versus in a facility. I was intrigued.
One day, years later, I received a call that my mother had been rushed to the emergency room. All the statistics, reports and projections I had studied had become my very own personal reality. When she was released from the hospital days later, my brothers and sisters and I realized that our strong, independent mother had reached a point her life that she could no longer be left alone in her home. She needed someone to make sure she had a bath, got something to eat, and took her medications. Our mother needed home care. Although she has since passed on, we made sure she didn’t just survive under the new circumstances she faced but thrived.
That experience, along with years of direct patient care experience and a passion for helping others, made my desire even stronger to ensure that good, quality home care was available to other mothers. As the founder and Director of Operations of CarePoint Home Health, I have and will continue to do just that.
There are many options available to the residents of the Twin Cities when choosing a PCA Agency. Just know that CarePoint will work diligently to earn not only your business, but also your trust and respect.
